Nuts make us happy. They can give us an energy boost or soothe our bodies. It’s all about the fatty acids and magnesium.

Nuts like walnuts and flaxseeds contain mood-lifting omega-3 fatty acids. Walnuts also contain 45mg of magnesium.

Nuts like almonds, Brazil nuts, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds also provide magnesium, which helps relax the body and soothe the mind. Pumpkin seeds can contain as much as 152mg of magnesium.

If you’re a woman age range of 31 to 50, it is recommended by dietitians that you get 320mg of magnesium a day. A deficiency in magnesium can cause fatigue, irritability, and mood swings.

Nuts also provide a whopping 155 to 200 calories in a small handful … so go easy. If you need that energy boost reach for those walnuts at least those calories are from a natural source rather than french fries or a candy bar. ;)
